Justice Served: Almazan Law Secures Conviction in $1M+ Real Estate Fraud Case

At Almazan Law, we stand for justice, especially when it comes to protecting our clients from fraud, manipulation, and abuse of the legal system.

Senior Partner Johanna Castellon Vega recently delivered a landmark victory in a multi-home title fraud scheme that shocked the Tampa Bay community and captured national headlines.

The case involved a calculated scheme in which a man and his wife forged property deeds to transfer ownership of multiple homes into shell companies. From manipulating utilities to falsifying driver’s licenses, the couple’s efforts to pose as rightful homeowners went unchecked—until Almazan Law stepped in.

For years, Johanna fought relentlessly on behalf of our client, working in collaboration with the State Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement. Her strategic litigation, fact-finding diligence, and unwavering advocacy helped bring the perpetrators to justice.

The result? The lead defendant pled guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges including organized fraud and filing false documents. His wife—also charged—faces up to 10 years for her role in the scheme.

This case is a powerful reminder of what happens when skilled legal strategy meets unshakable resolve. It also underscores the growing threat of property fraud in Florida, which has become a focus of legislative change and community protection efforts.

Johanna’s leadership exemplifies what it means to be an advocate—not just for legal outcomes, but for truth, protection, and justice.

If you suspect you or someone you know may be a victim of real estate fraud, our legal team is here to help.
